Handicaps
As a fun alternative to a Thursday Club Night in the summer, we run a series of Handicap races, which all end up in a cracking local pub, with a tastey buffet to fill up with after the race.. All the Handicaps have a fun element, and although they are a race, you are generally only racing yourself.
Further details of 2010 Handicap events will appear here and on the news page. Current plans include handicap events on the 3rd Thursday in the months of May, June, July, August, October and December.

The championship is open to all members within the club to compete against other clubmates within their respective categories, which are as follows:
Mens: Senior, V40, V50, V60
Ladies: Senior, VL35, VL45, VL55
Scoring:
100 points are awarded to the first Alchester club runner in their category, 99 for the next, and so on, at each of the above events.
To qualify for the championship:
- 6 out of the 11 events must be completed
- The best 6 results for each person will be taken to determine overall standings in the championship.
- Each participant must have their membership fees paid prior to competing in their first event in the championship.
- In the event of a tie in any category, the committee will decide the result and will be deemed final.
- Club vest/shirt must be worn for the event. No club top = no points. This is so that members competing can easily recognise others in the event.
- You must also run under your own name and number. Failure to comply is not only against UK Athletics rules, but will also result in the matter being dealt with by the committee. Again, the committee’s decision is final.
- Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category.
Further information about the Oxon Grand Prix series and the Oxon County Championships series will be provided on this website, please keep an eye on the news section.
